The Races

This past weekend, JT and I went to the races! We were invited to go along with Grammie and Gramps and some of their friends. It was so much fun. It was very loud, but so worth it. I have never been to something like that, and being the big Nascar fans that we are, it was really cool.

Granted, it's just dirt track racing, but they still went fast, and crashed, and caught on fire. Our friend's son, Brad and another guy, Jimmy Seagraves own a car, and Jimmy is the driver. During the "intermission time" we got to go down onto the track and meet the drivers and check out all the cars. JT really loved doing that. Here's a pic of him with #3 Jimmy Seagraves.

We definitely want to do this again, only we need to take Joel with us too!

East Lake Picnic

Tonight we went on a picnic. East Lake is just east of town so we drove out there for a while. Only in KS are there hay bales in the middle of a picnic area at the lake. JT thought it would be fun to try and push one. The video tells all. And as usual, I was cracking up, so the video is just a little shakey.

We got a a lot of fun pictures too. It was such a great evening, a little cloudy, and only in the upper 70's. A beautiful evening.

Tomorrow is day 3 of first grade. He is already singing new songs and talking about new friends he's made in his class.

First Day of School

JT is now a 1st grader! I can't believe it. He has had a great first 2 days, but I can really tell he is so tired. His teacher is Mrs. Brack and she seems very nice. I have heard that kids don't get away with very much in her class, and that's good!

Shirts or Skins

JT went out to ride his bike tonight. It had been a while since I had seen him around, so I went outside to check on him. He's a couple doors down playing baseball with a group of guys. I would say they are 12 years old or so. They had 2 teams. The Shirts and the Skins. JT was on the skins. I'm sure he just wanted to be on that team so he could show off his muscles.

The Perfect Nap

Today I had the perfect nap. It was cool and dark in the bedroom. JT was quietly playing games on the computer as well as Joel. Not a peep was heard from either of them or the dogs. I woke up and thought I was home alone...it was so quiet. The perfect nap.

The rest of the day has been uneventful. It's 103 outside, so who wants to go out there? I went out a little bit ago thinking that it wouldn't be too hot if I sat in the shade. I was wrong, it was too hot.

It's just 11 more days until school starts. I can't believe it. My boy is going to be in 1st grade. I have already had dreams about it. You would think I'm the one starting school. I think he's getting a little anxious about it too. Every day he makes sure to tell me how many more days until school starts.
