The Boy is Tired!

I can't believe it! JT said he was tired and ready to go to bed! It's a miracle...he is NEVER ready to go to bed. It was 20 minutes before bedtime, and he turned off the computer and said "I'm tired." He must have really played hard and swam hard at latchkey today. Good boy.

Cats & Fish

My friend Kathy is on vacation, so JT and I are in charge of feeding her cat's and fish. Pretty much I don't have to do anything because he LOVES to go to her house. He knows exactly how much food to give them, and where everything in located.

Kathy is my sister's mother in law. She is a very kind, funny, giving lady. When we are together we can sit and talk and laugh at anything. We share our drama and than we laugh about it together. She's one of those people that are so laid back that you admire her and wish you could have just 1/2 an ounce of that.

Oh to be laid back...I wonder what that's like.

A Long Week

Do you ever have one of those weeks? Ya know, the one's that feel like it's been two weeks instead of one? I can't really pin-point what made it feel so long, but it sure felt long!

On Wednesday, our garbage disposal broke. It didn't stop working...It cracked. Luckily, Dad saved the day. He sells garbage disposals at his work, so we got one at a good price from him. That put Joel on a new adventure. He installed his first garbage disposal. That is one thing I really admire and appreciate about Joel. He can fix most anything, as long as his wants to.

Thursday's I have my ladies Bible study group at my house. I'm very thankful that Joel got the disposal done, and the kitchen all cleaned up before they came. This is a fairly new group, and man, do I have fun. We are doing a Focus on the Family book on "Friendship" and it's been terrific. Plus, I get to have friends over! This week I made the snack. I made scalloped rhubarb. I was surprised that no one had ever had that before, since it's one of my favorite desserts. I made almost a double batch, and the pan was scraped clean. I guess they liked it! I love having friends over to our home.

Saturday we had a clogged drain. It was in the line coming from the washing machine. So, once again, Dad saves the day. He just happened to know a guy who could come out and fix the problem. Thanks, Dad!

Another highlight to my week has been getting back in contact with an "old college friend". Her name is Danielle, and she lives in Canada. We haven't talked or seen each other since 1995. Trying to catch up through email has been fun. Talk about a flood of memories!

Today is Sunday. Joel and JT went to our church today, and I went to church with my friend Christen and her boyfriend Charlie. Christen sang in the service today. She sounded wonderful...and I cried. She is meant to sing...she is meant to sing in church. She's been out of church for a while, and she really hasn't sung a whole lot, so today was a big day for her, and I'm so proud of her for doing it.

We went to Christen's folk's again today and took advantage of their swimming pool. We had a great time. Another friend of Christen's was there and also her niece, so JT had another kid to play with. Just another fun day.

I'm not quite sure what this week holds for us. Hopefully nothing too stressful or out of the ordinary. I'm a routine person, too much change makes me barf! :-) And for all of you who really know me, you know I'm serious about the Bafing thing.

Have a great week, hopefully I don't forget to post more.

A New Friend

Today we met a new friend. One of my best friends, Christen, has a new boyfriend. This was the day we FINALLY got to meet him. Christen's folks had our family over for lunch along with Charlie. He is a very nice guy. He is a real person, and he treats her good.

Her mom is a killer cook. We had ribs and chicken, salad, corn on the cob, corn bread & dessert. Then we all went swimming in their pool. It was a lot of fun, and hopefully I got a little color. JT really liked Charlie, too.

I love making new friends, and I cherish the ones I already have.

A New Recipe

As you know, I love to cook, and I love to try new recipes. We had received this "light and healthy" free magazine thing at work. As I was looking through it the other day, this recipe for Lemon Chicken popped out at me. It looked so good, I have been dying to try it. We LOVE lemon chicken from the chinese department at Dillons, and so in my mind...I was going to make the same thing. Well, let me tell you...IT'S NOT THE SAME! Don't you think this picture looks really good?

Now look at what I made!!! I promise, I followed the directions. It called for 6 tablespoons of yellow mustard, and I only did 3. And in the words of JT...THIS IS DISGUSTING. He wasn't in trouble for saying that, but only because I agreed with him. I always like to have supper made for Joel when he gets off work, which is usually 10:30-11 p.m.. A lot of evenings he doesn't get supper at work so I like to have something for him when he gets home. I did make some pretty yummy homemade fried rice to go along with this chicken. At least one part of the meal was good!

Boom!

This weekend has been filled with lots of fireworks. Joel finally found someone who loved to set off fireworks as much as he does...his son! JT is a firework junkie. On Thursday night, my friend Kaira and her son Dynver came over and we lit a ton of fireworks. The boys had fun together. Me, being the protective mom, I had the hose ready and a bucket full of water.

Yesterday, on the 4th, we went to my folks' house to hang out, and again to set off more fireworks that Gramps had got. That was fun too. JT got to light those by himself. Gramps taught him out to use the "aim & flame." After that, we went to the park for a watermelon feed and this Oldie's concert. That was followed by the Chisholm Trail Festival "Stampede in the Sky" fireworks.

This Morning started out with a parade. It was on the west side of town instead of downtown, which is very close to my folks' house so we just parked there and walked to the parade. JT got lots of candy. It helps when you are personal friends with the candy throwers!

The afternoon brought with it hot temps and fun in the sprinkler.

T-ball is over

T-ball is over. Here is JT's team picture. He is on the bottom row, 2nd from the right. He ended his season really well. Had some great hits and also did good in the field. I'm proud of him.

Joel got to go back to work today. It's his first full shift since April 14th. That's when he had his knee surgery. He could have gone back last week full time, except he got put in the hospital. It will be good for him to be at work, and for us to start getting full pay checks again!
